We had a great experience when we purchased our very first milk cow, Magnolia Mae.
While she was a bit of a hand full, you couldn’t have asked for a more gracious and kind Farmer.
He literally sat down on a three-legged milking stool and patiently taught us how to milk our new to us Family Milk cow.
He shared his feeding and milking routine. He showed us how he had a special call for getting her into the barn for milking and even where her favorite places to be scratched were.
He invited us back if we ever had questions and even paid for her to be preg checked by his vet after we brought her home. He was/is a wonderful man that quickly became our family friend.
Unfortunately, he only had one milk cow to sell and years later when it came time add to our herd, we had to find another farmer.
We had such a great experience the first time, we figured it would always be wonderful.
But we quickly learned that not every experience would be a good one. That not every Farmer is honest and how quite difficult it is to find the right farmer, with the right motivation for selling.
We simply wanted to find a good, clean, super friendly, forever-milk cow to add to our Farmstead. Sadly what we brought home was anything-but a problem free new friend.
Fast forward years later, we have realized that our past experiences have fueled our passion to step up and BE THAT GOOD FARMER! To BE for our customers now, what we needed as buyers then.
So it’s with all of these feelings and emotions fresh in our minds, that we choose to raise 1 to 2 Registered A2A2 Future Farmstead Heifers every year or so, for people like YOU!
Our A2A2 Homestead Heifers have been bottle fed on their own Mama’s milk, twice a day for 4-5 months. Because of this, they are used to A LOT of human contact.
They have been taught to walk on a lead, to stand well, to allow touching and scratches and for the most part to TRY and mind their manners.
But there’s alwaaaaaaaays the exception. Ha!
These young ladies have been conditioned to crazy kids, crazIER adults ;), barking dogs, squawking chickens, nippy horses and of course other cows.
We make sure they have their Bangs vaccine, are de-horned if they are not naturally polled and have good healthy feet to go home with you on.
Interested?! Stay tuned or reach out. We will list our Homestead Heifers when they are ready for their forever home.
